MANIFESTO
Over the past decade we have watched in amazement as humanity has reached vast new limits: self sustaining cities, completely autonomous transport, the successful colonisation of Mars. The world around us has become that smart it has made the mobile phone redundant.
Omphalos believe in change, that not everything has to be started from brand new. Our towns and villages have been ignored and their high streets allowed to crumble, instead of being adapted and brought up to speed with the rest of the world. What used to be local hubs for history, retail and social experiences are now near deserted streets often ignored and even more often avoided. The digital age may have kick started this process but the smart age has ensured no return for the traditional high street.
Old traditions must evolve. Our society must take pride. Our high streets must become something more.

Who are we?
At Omphalos, we’re passionate about reviving the traditional high street with an all new purpose. We understand the value in self sustainability and smart cities, however this cannot be at the cost of our high streets. Over the years we have seen our high streets slowly decline and we refuse to sit back and idly watch as they fade out of this world.

Operating within the Scottish government as a collective of creatives: neighbourhood designers, design researchers, citizen representatives, symbiotic systems designers and many more, we realised that the technology used to inspire and build the grand utopias that exist around the globe could be harnessed and utilised in the context of the high street. That is our mission, our calling, to give life to a forgot place but we can't do it without you.

We believe that communities know what is best for them, so here at Omphalos we aim to give you, the community, a choice on what purpose you want for your lcoal area. We do this through simulated events that give citizens the opportunity to explore the benefits of symbiotic smart systems and decide amognst themselves if this is something they wish to see as a reality. Via crowdfunding campaigns and provided there is enough community support, we will then match the pledged amount and set in place the infrastructure and systems that bring the event to life.
